The conscious and subconscious minds are often at odds. Through hypnosis, we make suggestions directly to your subconscious as a means to help align both states of mind.
Your subconscious is incredibly intelligent and if it isn’t in agreement with what you are consciously urging it to do, it will continually find ways to derail you.
Lance Armstrong, the great American cyclist and 7 time Tour de France winner had this to say about it: "The thing that makes winning so difficult, and I mean winning anything, even a five-cent ring toss much less the Tour [de France] is that the mind and the body almost never work together cooperatively. Mostly, we are at odds with ourselves."
In order to succeed at something, our conscious and subconscious must be working together. To be successful what you need is for your conscious mind to be in agreement with what you actually want (your subconscious).
I bet there has been a time or two where you tried to do something you didn’t really want to do and because of that you experienced failure. It happens to us all the time even when we’re looking for our car keys.
Take for instance this man who had a business trip set-up to go to Peoria, Illinois. The day of his trip he couldn’t find his ticket anywhere. Fortunately for him he had been taught self-hypnosis so he hypnotized himself to think of where it might be. The strong message he got was to look in the second pocket of his briefcase. Since he had already looked in his briefcase before hand, he resisted the urge to look for it there again. Instead of taking his trip to Peoria he canceled it and went to his office instead that day. It was later that night when he found the ticket. Yes, that’s right in the second pocket of his briefcase.
When the man went in for his next hypnosis session the focus became why he didn’t make that trip to Peoria. As it turned out this man’s conscious mind was suppressing some ethical concerns he was having about his boss and his job. He really didn’t want to work there anymore. His unconscious knew this of course and so although the man wanted consciously to find his ticket, subconsciously he didn’t!
Even for physical things we want to have change with our bodies the conscious and unconscious must be in agreement.
In many cases, the subconscious can alter the body’s biochemistry and for example while a woman might consciously want to have a baby, her subconscious may be stopping her from getting pregnant. So being able to go directly to the subconscious mind can change things chemically in the body to help her to actually become pregnant.
Dr Elizabeth Muir states, "Hypnosis can affect the area of the brain known as the hypothalamus. This is the neural centre at the base of the brain that is linked to the pituitary gland. It controls the flow of hormones. The hypothalamus is highly sensitive to stress." and says Muir, "It acts as a bridge between the emotional and the physical, turning emotional messages into physical responses."
Through hypnosis we can find not only where the subconscious is not in agreement but why and then provide the subconscious with other choices as a means to bring it into agreement with the conscious mind. Bringing both states of mind into alignment and making changes possible. http://hypnosis-in-action.com
